On the behalf of the newsletter staff and myself, I would like to welcome our readers back to the newsletter and to 2010. We have a lot of plans for the newsletter this year and we still look forward to bringing you the latest IOGKF news, photos and videos in the highest possible quality!
If you have any IOGKF or Dojo related news or articles, please feel free to send them to me via this email address. Remember, nothing is too big or too small for the IOGKF International Newsletter!
MARCH & JUNE NEWSLETTER EDITIONS
As some of you may have noticed, this March edition is a little smaller than our past editions. Be rest assured that this has no effect on the quality of what has been produced in this issue. Article numbers are low because IOGKF activities and Gasshuku’s happen fewer in the period from December to March. However the articles we do have featured in this edition are top of the line!
Our June 2010 edition is shaping up to be our biggest issue yet! In the period of March – June there is nearly an IOGKF Gasshuku every week, so we are expecting plenty of high quality reports about the teachings of the IOGKF’s highest quality instructors. Also, Sensei Bakkies Laubscher will be continuing his ‘perspective on...’ article series, which has been met by much acclaim. We will also be adding a new ongoing series which will start in June, called ‘Gasshuku gone by...’ and will be written by Sensei John Lambert, IOGKF Scotland Chief Instructor. Sensei John is one of the few remaining IOGKF founding chief instructors and will be writing IOGKF Gasshuku and event reports from our Federations early history.
No edition can ever be too big though, if you have an article, please send it to us!
The artistic talent of Sensei Roberto Zapata is the reason our comic book has been so well accepted! I have received many emails of praise about the comic book project and I am also happy to report many of these have come from different Karate styles. The comic book takes many months of drawing and graphic design. Sensei Zapata gives all of his time to this project free of charge. I would be grateful if IOGKF members could send him messages about how much they appreciate his work!
Chapter 2 of the Goju-ryu Masters comic book series picks up where chapter 1 left off. See the story of Kanryo Sensei’s journey to Fuzhou and his experiences with Master Ryu Ryu Ko!
I am really happy that the IOGKF International Newsletter has been able to add two new languages to its fast growing list. As well as English and Spainish, we will now be featuring regular articles in French and Italian. This is as broad as the newsletter has ever been and we are now reaching more members than ever before!
I would like to thank the IOGKF Spainish translation team:
- Sensei Luis Nunes
- Antonio Pagan
- Elena Corent
Please email them with your thanks and appreciation!
