Autumn Gasshuku: a Romanian and Bulgarian collaboration
By Marian Stoican-IOGKF Romania
IOGKF Romania & Goju-ryu Varna, recently hosted IOGKF France Chief Instructor, Sensei Bernard Cousin, for a 3 day National Seminar that was attended by Romanian and Bulgarian Karate enthusiasts…
On the 27th, 28th and 29th of November, this year, we had three day seminar dedicated to Karate in the spirit and tradition of the Goju Ryu style under the direct coordination of Sensei Bernard Cousin, (chief instructor of IOGKF France). They were three trainings for the Romanian participants and two trainings for the Bulgarians participants.
The autumn seminars intentions was to create some new contacts with the others martial arts participants and also to continue taking in the learning’s of Sensei Bernard Cousin, that started in the previous seminars; if during the previous seminars we have understood the importance of the vision, reaction and coordination in combat, in this one we were to learn the importance of the tactics, a subject cleverly chosen by Sensei Bernard Cousin, considering that the participants ages was situated between 18 and 60 years old.
The Sensei’s experience helped him to combine a series of exercises for participants of all ages, these exercises being included as part of Sensei Cousin’s proposed subject. He presented to us some specific Kyu grade exercises of tactics, the difference for the black belts consisting only in a few details.
The two training’s from Bulgaria left us a good impression and reveal to us some new aspects of the Okinawa Goju Ryu style. We left Bulgaria with good thoughts and with the hope of soon returning.
No matter the country and the style, the exercises and the explanations of Sensei managed to maintain all the participants on a single way, the way of Okinawan Goju-ryu Karate-do.
