2008 Okinawan World Budosai 2 Disc DVD review

EnglishHow could one forget the countless and wonderful memories brought on when you think about the 2008 Okinawan World Budosai? With the event being such an overwhelming and amazing success, it would be virtually impossible to remember all of them and spare a thought for those members who were not able to partake in the event.

Now, thanks to IOGKF International you can have a piece of the world Budosai festival to keep in your very own home, with the release of the 2008 Okinawan World Budosai DVD set!

The DVD is a two disc set which captures both the practical and theory sides of the event in an easy to understand and professional setting.

Disc one of this set includes history lectures by Shuichi Aragaki Sensei and Higaonna Morio Sensei.

In Aragaki Sensei’s lecture, the Master shares rare stories about Chojun Sensei and talks about Karate etiquette. The lecture is in both Japanese and English. Also present at Aragaki Sensei’s lecture is the late Miyagi Anichi Shihan.

Higaonna Morio Sensei’s lecture concentrates on Anichi Sensei and Aragaki Sensei’s training and rare stories and information about the two. Again this lecture is available in both Japanese and English.

Disc two of the set includes the Masters’ demonstration held on the final day of the event. This includes numerous demonstrations from Higaonna Sensei, Aragaki Sensei and other high ranking instructors such as, Sensei Bakkies Laubscher, Sensei Kazuo Terauchi, Sensei Tetsuji Nakamura, Sensei Katsuya Yamashiro and many more.

Along with this, you can relive the atmosphere brought on by over 600 IOGKF black belts performing Sanchin under the command of Higaonna Morio Sensei. Sensei John Marrable fighting off two attackers from his wheelchair, Higaonna Sensei pounding stone with his bare hands, the Masters own students demonstrating all the hojo undo exercises and who could forget Aragaki Sensei’s amazing performance of Seipai!

For non-IOGKF members there is a wide range of demonstrations from other Okinawan styles such as, Shorin Ryu, Motobu Ryu, Shohei Ryu, Kobudo and other Goju-ryu styles.

Also included is the open and closing ceremonies of the Masters demonstrations, which features Miyagi Anichi Sensei’s final address to IOGKF members and his wish for us from Chojun Sensei.

This DVD is not just a must have for all IOGKF Karate-ka, but any serious Karate-ka’s library. The amount of technique, talent and mastery on show is unlike anything ever seen before on DVD. It would prove not only to be a great motivational and memorable tool, but a piece of primary Okinawan Goju-ryu history for you to own.

It is interesting to note a few of these demonstrations have made there way onto the internet, but none in their entirety, nor in the high quality condition available on this DVD video.

¿Como podría recordar los innumerables y maravillosos momentos que me vienen a la memoria cuando pienso en el Budosai  Mundial 2008 en Okinawa?. Después de tan abrumador y sorprendente éxito, seria casi imposible recordar todos y cada unos de los momentos vividos y sobre todo,  transmitirlos  a  cada uno de los miembros que no pudieron participar en este evento.

Ahora, gracias a la IOGKF Internacional, tu puedes  tener en casa  un  recuerdo  de este  festival del Budosai mundial en DVD.

El DVD costa de dos discos que recogen la practica y la teoría, fácil de entender y creado por profesionales.

El disco uno incluye conferencias impartidas por Sensei Shuichi Aragaki y Sensei Morio Higaonna.

En la conferencia que da Sensei Aragaki, comparte historias antiguas de karate  sobre Sensei Chojun  Miyagi  y habla de la etiqueta. La conferencia es en ingles y japonés. En esta conferencia también estuvo presente Shihan Anichi Miyagi

Sensei Morio Higaonna centra su conferencia en Sensei Anichi y Sensei Aragaki, relata historias de su formación y comparte con nosotros información de ellos. Una vez más esta conferencia esta disponible en ingles y japonés.

El disco dos incluye a todos los maestros “sobre todo las demostraciones que hicieron el ultimo día del evento”. Se puede ver también a  Sensei Higaonna, Aragaki y otros grandes maestros tales como  los siguientes instructores, Sensei Bakkies Laubscher, Sensei Kazuo Terauchi,  Sensei Tetsuji Nakamura, Sensei Katsuya Yamashiro y muchos mas realizando ejercicios diversos durante los seminarios.

Es interesante ver  algunas demostraciones que se han realizado y están colgadas en Internet, pero no están completas ni tienen la misma calidad que encontraras en este DVD.
