Condolence Message
It was with great sadness with which I heard the news that
Anichi Miyagi Sensei had passed away. He was, and will
always remain, one of the great treasures of the world of
karate-do. Everybody from IOGKF Denmark would like to extend
their condolences to Anichi Miyagi's family, and, of course,
also to Higoanna Sensei. We hope Sensei, that the loss of
your Sensei will not be too great to bear and that you can
find solace and comfort knowing how many generations, past,
present and future Anichi Miyagi Sensei has, and continues
to inspire.

IOGKF Int'l Executive Committee Member
I would
like to express my deepest condolence to the family of
An’ichi Miyagi Sensei.
An’ichi Miyagi Sensei was the chosen student of
Chojun Miyagi
Sensei. The essence of Goju-Ryu
survived because of him.
He lived a very simple life following the teaching of his
teacher. In 2007, Anichi
Sensei announced officially that
Morio Higaonna Sensei is a
successor of Goju-Ryu after
him.
Last year during the World Budosai
when I visited Anichi Sensei
at his home, Anichi Sensei
told me that he often woke up in the middle of the night
with visions of Miyagi Chojun
Sensei.
I believe he has now joined with
Chojun Sensei and is watching us from heaven.
I would like to express my deepest appreciation to An’ichi
Sensei for everything he has done for us all and
Goju-Ryu, and I promise my
firm commitment to carry his legacy to our next generation.
Please rest in peace.

I am so very sad to hear
the news of the passing of An`ichi Miyagi Sensei.
I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to his wife
and all his family.
An'ichi Sensei lived such a wonderful life and he shared
it all with us to inspire and teach.
From stories of his life as a boy who, like so many others,
suffered great personal loss amidst the terror of WWII, to
his time as a dedicated student of Bushi Miyagi Chojun we
can only imagine at how intense and difficult some of these
things must have been and the passion and resilience of
spirit required. Sensei took all of these things he had
worked so hard for and faithfully passed them on to his own
student, Higaonna Sensei, ensuring that we could all share
in the true spirit and legacy of this wonderful art, no
matter where in the world we came from.
An'ichi Sensei was also a very kind and gentle man. Sensei
would often fondly recall and share with us not just his
time training with Bushi Miyagi, but also the stories of his
time adventuring on the high seas as a young man,
travelling the world in an era when Okinawa wasn't on most
maps, his passport was useless, and the art of Karate was
almost unknown.
How amazing his journey of life and the impact he has had on
us all.
An`ichi Sensei was a living example of very real humility
and inspirational teachings.
For all of his kindness and selflessness, we will forever be
grateful.
I hope he is with his teacher now and we can make them happy
by continuing to train on the path they have lighted for us.
